Rockin' It Old School

Rockin’ It Old School

Twenty racers couldn’t have asked for a better time, place or day (weather-wise) to put on a race at Greg and Lisa W’s T-Jet Turnpike than last Sunday. Many thanks again from all of us East Coast HO Outlaws gearheads for opening your home to us. The club also voted Mario Bosse in as a full member. Welcome Mario! That makes 3 Maine-acts in the club!

The Hobby Stocks, a big club favorite class, saw some really unique Aurora bodies adoring these mostly stock T-Jet chassis again. Battered Ford T-Birds, Farnsworth’s Ice Cream Ford truck, a school (get it? Fish, school?) of Mako Sharks and many other versions left their marks, and original Aurora Plastic, on the T-Jet Turnpike walls.  Getting a big win of the day was local guy Mike B. running 111 laps and 18 sections, just ahead of Greg B’s Mako which also ran 111 laps but 8 sections. 3rd was Flash’s beater (huh-huh) with 110-7. 4th, 5th and 6th were also a great race between Hubb’s, Reimels and Ryan A, all running 108 laps, 14 sections for Hubb’s, 8 for John R and 7 for Ryan.

Best race of the day saw the ECHORR Indy chassis cars hit the track to see if a Tow Truck, Dune Buggy, Hot Rod, Grand Prix or a Indy bodied race car would take home the top place honors.  It is now a know fact that a red Tow Truck can actually vault off the track layout borders and become a airborne missile via the klutzy hands (mine) (that would be Hoar, Jim Hoar) of a corner marshal.  A shiny yellow Indy body driven by hot shoe guy Greg B takes the days first Victory by running 125 laps and 9 sections. Congrats to Greg. Second place was Rick H driving a Dune Buggy (sick cat green color) with 123 laps and13 sections. Third and fourth place was a close one between local guy Mike and “The Tan Bastard” Jim Hoar, both with 119 laps, Mike with 19 sectionss vs. Jim’s 14. Another battle for 5th-6th between Matt and Greg W kept everyone watching until Greg W. literally micro-inched (is that a Maine term?) ahead of Matt for top spot, both with 118-10.

Final race of the day, if we hadn’t left enough marks on Greg’s track border/walls by this point, we sure did when the ECHORR SS race was done. Ryan didn’t scratch the walls at all cuz his little red Mangusta bodied rocket was awesome and did 142 laps and 15 sections for his Victory of the day. Greg W would show up the rest of the field by running a vintage (and nice) red, Vibrator 63 Ford P/U truck body on his SS car, but it worked. He finished 2nd with 142 laps and 1 section. Taking 3rd was Flash with his classic but cool tan Dino Ferrari running 141 laps and 14 sections. A close 4th was John R with 141 laps and 7 sections.

Paul “The House” Ryer is hoping we can all make it down to South Shore Speedway on April 19th so we can park all over his muddy front yard and dig out his basement door entrance for him (haha-ha) (No need. The show has melted. Woo-hoo!). So get your Sportsman with Trans-Am bodies, Fairgrounds with IMSA/SCCA Sports car bodies, and ECHOR SS cars plus your stomach ready to eat “House” out of house and home in a couple weeks ya’all.
