Feb  19th   “I wish I was in Daytona”    2021-22 season

On Saturday February 19 th, 12 Outlaws and a new guy arrived at Len Jet Raceway to race tjets.

Practice ended around 10, cars were teched and Dave Lockwood conducted the driver’s meeting.  Dave introduced Vinnknee Piazza to the Outlaws.  Vinnknee (Yup, that’s the way he spells it) was an experienced racer and builder back in the day (2006).  Welcome Vinnknee. VinnKnee jumped in to help by providing pictures for this event. Thanks Vinnknee!

Indy on the Python

Dave took the win with 85 laps despite some very eventful early laps in yellow.  Once he settled in he turned the fastest lap in three of the four heats. Cody turned 82 laps and Peter 81 laps to take the last 2 steps on the podium.  Cars ran well on the Python…better than most expected.  Paul, Donnie, Joe Rinn and Jimmy rounded out the top half of the field.

Super Stock  on the Champion

The second race of the day was Super Stock on the Champion.  Always a favorite with the Outlaws and almost everyone has a ton of time on the track.  Paul Ryer took the win with 117 laps!  Donnie took second 2 laps behind with 115 laps 58 sections to take the silver with Peter also with 115 laps 23 sections to take the bronze.  Guess Peter and Donnie’s cars were pretty evenly matched!  Joe Rinn, Flash, Cody and Jimmy rounded out the top half of the field.

Magnatraction Sport Prototypes on the Boomarang

A fleet of Porsche 917s and Ferrari 512s mounted to Magnatraction Chassis with 14 ohm red tipped arms took to the Boomarang track  for the first time.  Two weeks ago Flash edged Donnie for the win in the efray Nascar race but this week Donnie took the win turning 85 laps for the win over Dave with 84 laps and Flash with 82 laps.  For reference Flash turned 76 laps in the efray race so speeds of the MT class with the long straights are significantly faster than the 16ohm balanced and trued arm  tjet based cars with smaller diameter tires.  Paul Ryer, Cody, Peter, Terry and John Schoenfeld rounded out the top half of the field.

Thank you Peter for your hospitality as always.

Next race is March 19th,  March Madness.  Scheduled races are Jalopy on the Bear, SS on the Python, and IROC on the Shamrock Glen
