February 4, 2023,  The aptly named “Freezer” race

On Saturday February 4th, 13  Outlaws braved the minus 11 degree tempertures to arrive at Len Jet Raceway to race  Hobby Stock,  IROC and Magnatraction with IMSA bodies.

After  practice, cars were teched and Dave Lockwood conducted the driver’s meeting.  After the meeting racers voted for the best appearing car and Greg’s Daytona Cobra Coupe was awarded best appearing.

Hobby Stock on the Tub

Big Greg took the win beating Flash by a lap.  ( He raced Flash’s Cobra Coupe and not only took best appearing but won the race … a very rare occurrence.  Peter took the last step on the podium  2 laps behind Flash besting Joe Rinn by sections.  Paul Crosby and Cody  rounded out the top half of the field.

IROC on the Bear

John Schoenfeld prepped TFX tjets for our IROC race.  They run really well with a minimum of effort, mostly with just tuning the pickup shoes.  Cody smoked the field taking the win by 4 laps over Greg and 5 laps over his dad Rick.  First time I can remember a father and son standing on the podium together.  Congrats.   Flash, Peter, Donnie and Mark K. rounded out the top half of the field.

Magnatraction on the Python with IMSA bodies

I’m pretty sure this was the first time we raced MTs on the Python and the cars proved to be very fast through all the sweepers on the track.   Peter took the win over Donnie by sections with 112 laps for both.  Compared to the Halloween Havoc Fray/SS results on the Python, Peter did 9 more laps with MT than he did Fray SS and Donnie did 17 more laps!!!!!   Flash took 3rd with 109 laps.   Terry, Greg, Jimmy and Cody rounded out the top half of the field

It was a fun day of racing and thank you Peter for your hospitality as always.

Our next race will be the “ I wish I was in Daytona”  at Len Jet on February 18th. Races will be Indy on the Python, Fray/ SS on the Champion and Magnatraction with Sports Prototype bodies on the Nuvolari
