April 9, 2023 | Jim Colligan March18, 2023, The “March Madness” race On Saturday March 18th, 15 Outlaws arrived at Len Jet Raceway to race Jalopies, Super Stock and IROC. After practice, cars were teched , Dave held the drivers meeting. After the meeting racers voted for the best appearing car and Bruce Olsen was awarded best appearing. Jalopies on the Bear In a barn burner, Dave took the win over Cody by 4 sections both with 82 laps!!!!!! Paul Ryer took third with 79 laps. Donnie, Peter, Bruce, Jimmy and Terry rounded out the top half of the field. I looked up the last time we ran Jalopies on the Bear and it was March 2022 and Paul took the win with 81 laps. Super Stock on the Python Dave took his second win of the day. Dave and Peter were the class of the field, Dave with 113 laps to Peter’s 111 laps ( with one of Dave’s cars). Joe Rinn took third with 105 laps. Cody, Pitstop, Jimmy, Terry and Donnie rounded out the top half of the field. IROC on the Shamrock Glen Dave provided an IROC set and Cody took the a convincing win with 72 laps besting Peter with 69 laps. Dave took third with 68 laps. Rick, Paul, Hal and Terry rounded out the top half of the field. IROC racing by and large always yields close racing as the difference between 3rd and 9th was only 4 laps It was a fun day of racing and thank you Peter for your hospitality as always. Our next race will be the “The Spinout” on Elvis at Paul Ryer’s South Shore Speedway in Hingham on April 22. Races will be Grand National, E-Fray with Trans Am bodies and Magnatraction with NASCAR bodies.
