Well, as Einstein used to say, “The Impossible just takes a little bit longer”. Never a truer saying there has been for me having a few minutes to get this Race Report done.  But a wonderful time was had by the nearly 20 racers who made this event a appetizer for what was to come a few days later at the ECHORR Challenge.  We voted to run the classes that were on the schedule to make our competitors not feel we had a unfair advantage by running just the SS cars on all the tracks. Since Peter Lentros was the host, he had the privilege of selecting the Best Appearing winners.  Rick Hubbert won Hobby Stock, Ryan Archambault won in Indy, and Paul Ryer won in ECHORR SS thanks to a Pat Dube paint job.  Thanks Pat!

We started out the day running old ratty old Hobby Stocks (Well, at least mine is a ratty old Hobby Stock). Pretty good racing  on the Shamrock Glen track for a bunch of cars with some semi-skinny tires on them that probably saw lots of action on old Aurora Lock-N-Joiner track that a nice routed race surface.  Making it look easy was “Too Tall” Dave Lockwood who ran 68 laps. A lap or less behind him  was Greg W’ski with 67 laps and just a 1/2 lap behind him taking third spot was Flash! Even closer than that was John Weaver who missed 3rd by just  4 track sections!  Fifth was Ryan A who ran 64 laps total. Can’t wait till next year when the cars have trimmed wheel wells!!!  PLUG!!

Next we ate of course, and then we raced the ECHORR Indy cars with the hopes we could make a few go airborne to see how they’d run on Peter’s new Pseudo Vintage Tub Track with the Bowman routed surface.  Very fun track once you learn where the tricky points are and braking points. Guess Dave Lockwood figured it out quickly because he took his second feature win of the day by running 81 laps. Greg B was a close second with 80 laps and 3rd place was Rick H. with another good finish this year by running 78 laps. Paul Ryer tried to get the 3rd spot but wound up only 3 track sections from a podium finish. 5th place was Ryan A again, a Fifth place, who ran 77 laps.

Then the Big Ole’Bad Boy SS cars hit the awesome new Python MaxTrax  created and designed by Peter Lentros and built by our good friend Paul Kniffen of MaxTrax/Zoom’n Motorsports Products.  This track was getting some serious break-in running done on it and when the silicone tires were done blistering, taking the win was the guy who can drive anything on 3 or 4 wheels, John Weaver, by running 160 laps. Greg B and Dave L both had 159 laps with B getting second by virtue of his 11 section higher total. 4th place was Flash’Man who ran a strong racecar but got only 156 laps. “Once Again Fifth Place Ryan” made it offical. That’s the best he can finish for this days events, by getting 152 laps.

Gonna be a heck of a remainder of October for sure in the club.  About half of the club members will be racing on our own team as well as being members helping out make up more teams from MARC,HOCOC and Frady Cats plus, for the first time in history, The Mainers formed a team also.   Speaking of Mainers……on Oct 25th at Jim  Hoar’s Sebago HO Raceway, the annual Grill’n-N’Chill’n500 will be held. Lots of folks make it a easier time by coming up the day before and being hosted by the Hoar family, dogs included.  Officially, doors open at 8am on Sunday the 25th, classes are GN and Jalopy’s on the SebagOval (King of Dirt track) and then SS will be run on the 24ft long x 5.5ft wide road course.  Look forward to seeing everyone who can make it.  If not…..we’ll miss you!  For about a week and then I’m going to FL for 1/2  of November.  SMURK!!!
