July 30, 2022  Second Summer Series Race   (Almost everybody was there)

On Saturday July 30th, 19 Outlaws arrived at Len Jet Raceway for the second Summer Series Race with Outlaws from Long Island, New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Mass and New Hampshire.  First we conducted our rules meeting and elections with incumbents retaining their positions with the exception of Treasurer.  Big Greg stepped down after holding the position for many years and turned over the position to Jimmy.

After a shortened practice, cars were teched and Dave Lockwood conducted the driver’s meeting.

Nostalgia on the Shamrock Glen

Flash took the win with 19 laps in all 4 lanes for a total of 76 laps and 41 section.  Dave took second with 19 laps in all 4 lanes for a total of 76 laps and 3 sections!!!!  Paul edged Donnie out for third  with 75 laps 56 sections to Donny’s 75 laps 45 sections. Pitstop, Peter, Joe Escalante, Greg W, Terry and Jimmy filled out the top half of the field.

SS/Fray on the Bear

Dave killed it with 119 laps and an 11 lap lead over second place Peter who had 108 laps and 27 sections.  Cody was third with 108 laps and 5 sections.  (See the pic of Cody’s tires at the end of the race……)  Donny, Flash, Paul, Joe Rinn,Greg W, Joe Escalante and Pitstop rounded out the top half of the field.

IROC Trucks on the Champion

Our final race for the day was on the Champion.  Big Greg brought a great set of Trucks for us to race and the trucks handled surprising well despite their tall cabs.  We ran 2 minute heats instead of the usual 3 due to the later than usual start after the rules meeting.  Paul took the victory with 65 laps 41 sections and a 2 lap lead over Peter and Rick who both had 63 laps 22 sections.  Flash, Dave, Greg W and Joe Rinn rounded out the top half of the field.  Racing was really close as positions 2  through 12  were within 2 laps of each other!!!!!!!!!!!!

It was a fun day of racing and thank you Peter for your hospitality as always. Our last race in the summer series will be August 27th.  Races will be Indy on the Python, Efray on the Bear and Fray/SS on the Shamrock Glen.
