July 8, 2023 | Jim Colligan June 24, 2023, “1st Summer Series Race” On Saturday June 24, 14 Outlaws arrived at Lenjet Raceway to race Indy on the Champion, Nostalgia on the Tub and E Fray on the Python. The Summer Series is not part of the Outlaw Season. It’s low key, no plaques for finishing position, no best appearing award and entry fees don’t go to the club treasury. Just a chance to get together to race After practice, cars were teched , Dave held the drivers meeting. During the meeting we discussed the Club becoming a primary sponsor of the Halloween Havoc and agreed to vote on it at our rules meeting on July 15th. Nostalgia on the tubbie … or is it Tubby. Gonna have to ask Peter. Nostalgia isn’t an Outlaw class. We only run it in the Summer Series. Hopra does call the class the skinny tire class. Pitstop continued his dominance on the tub taking the win with 137 laps over Peter with 135 laps. Dave took 3rd with 133 laps. Joe Rinn, Donnie, Paul and Tom Gray rounded out the top half of the field. Although the tracks we’ll run on for the Halloween Havoc haven’t been decided according to Dave, I wouldn’t be surprised if Nostalgia was run on the tub. Indy cars on the Champion Dave ran away and hid taking the win and besting 2nd place finisher Paul Ryer with 93 laps to 89 laps. The 3rd step on the podium went to Peter with 89 laps as well but 8 sections behind Paul. Pitstop and Ryan ( both with 88 laps 22 sections), Jimmy and Donnie rounded out the top half of the field E- Fray on the Python Dave took the win with 113 laps and no one else was close. Peter took second at 106 laps and third went to Donnie with 104 laps. But the racing back in the back was fierce as as 5 racers had 100 laps! In order of sections was Paul, Joe Rinn, Terry, Pitstop, and Ryan. Only 21 section separated the first 4. It was a fun day of racing and thank you Peter for your hospitality. Our next race will be our second Summer Series race July 15th after our annual rules meeting. We’ll race Nostalgia on the Shamrock Glen, Fray/SS on the Bear and if time permits we’ll run an Iroc race on the Champion.
