April 30th was not a day for Yoga, Zen Budha stuff or Zumba. It was a Spin Out Day for the East Coast HO Outlaws hosted by Peter Lentros at his magical Romper Room called LenJet Raceway.  17 guys were in there to try not to spin out but to claim a spot on the new MaxTrax Donation to our club, a beautiful Victory Lane product they are making and available for any other club to purchase.

Best Appearing Award went to Don Hall and his metalflake blue 70 Camaro in the Limited SS/TransAm class.  Couple others came close but Don’s had the sparkle factor.

Limited SS/TransAm race was a great showing of retro style TransAm Cougars,Mustangs,Camaro’s and just like the real stuff, tires went flying….mostly right off the Shelby 500 S’tang of Jim Hoar. But keeping his car in the slot and his wheels on all fours the longest was Flash-Dave, taking his ride to a total of 95 laps and a Victory Spot on the new MaxTrax podium.  2nd was Peter L,with a close lap total of 93, followed by Dave L and Don H.,both with 89 laps. Greg W was 5th with 88 laps. A total of 17 racers tackled the awesome Python track and everyone had 70  laps or more, which is pretty good for this road course.

ECHORR Super Stocks (SS)  handled Peter’s Champion as well as usual. Newbie Don Norris from the Maine HO Club got his car in the grove and rhythm of the track after the Red Lane/1st Round and was thrilled with his 16th place finish. Getting the Top Podium spot was Dave L.with a total of 111 laps. 2nd was Greg W’ski with a total of 107 laps followed by Flash, also with a 107 total but on the lower end of the total track sections. 4th was Peter L,with 105 and 5th was Don H with 105 also but on the lower end of the total track sections.

Outlaws Magna-Tractions with NASCAR bodies:  The highlight, or lowlight of the day, depended on how well everyone could set up their Magna-Traction chassis for a run on the spectacular Soverign Purple HO Mile track. Lots of guys have never run on it so it was Do,Die and Hang On for most of us as we flew down the banked Straightaway and into the Hold On For Dear Life High Angle Banking at the end of it.  It was fun to say the least, and a learning race for those that want to try it again next year. Dave L.was happiest cuz he took the Top Spot by hanging on for a 144 lap total, followed by Flash-Dave with 137 laps. Third,Fourth and Fifth place guys, Peter L, “O Jimmy” C and Greg W, all  had 134 laps but Peter had a 1/2 lap more run then Jimmy and Greg.  Everyone had more than 100 laps which was amazing for how much Spin Out’s there were at our aptly named final race of the year.

Our planned final race at Pronyne Museum on May 7th was gonna have alot fewer races than we ever had for our Season Ending event, so sadly, we will miss Ric’s great collection of New Englands best Modifieds and vintage historical archives until next year.  Peter L.made a generous donation for us to give to Ric in addition to a large amount we usually donate to the Museum’s needed treasury.

Let’s hope our 2017-2018 East Coast HO Outlaws Race Season brings together the best of our regions modelers, builders and personality’s for a great year ahead and forever.
