December 17, 2015 | Paul Ryer Fast Times at the Fast Five Raceway Southampton, Massachusetts, December 6, 2015 – 21 Drivers took to the tracks for some fast racing at Ryan Archambault’s Fast Five Raceway. We would have had 22, but Bob Farnsworth was called to work and missed the fun. Oh well, maybe next time Bob. Fast Five Raceway features 2 tracks. The tight and twisty Harley Davidson track and long and serpentine Snakebite. Track power went on and everyone got down to the business of testing, tuning and practicing to come up with the cars that would give them the best chance at a good finish. The classes of the day were Hobbystock, ECHORR SS, and Magnatraction with Sports Prototype bodies. After all the cars were entered in tech, Honorary Concourse judge Mike picked Donny Hall’s Ferrari 512 as the best appearing of the day. Congratulations Donny! Now down to the racing. First up was Hobbystock on the Harley Davidson track. Nothing like skinny tires and unrestricted shoes to hone your driving skills. As has become the norm when racing with the Outlaws, there was tight racing through the field. Sections separated first from second with third less than a lap behind. Several position were determined based on sections. Flash took the win with Dave L second and track owner Ryan in third. Look out for Ryan, he might be one of the newest Outlaws, but he is fast. Driver Laps Position Dave Kaiser (Flash) 102.29 1 Dave Lockwood 102.08 2 Ryan Archambault 101 3 Rick Hubbert 97 4 Greg Wisniewski 96.29 5 Steve Nilsen 96.05 6 Rudy Urban 95.14 7 Pat Dube 95.12 8 Matt Patrick 94 9 Jim Hoar 93 10 Peter Lentros 92.21 11 Paul Ryer 92.04 12 Rick Morrissette 92 13 Don Hall 91 14 Jim Colligan 89 15 Phil Hilgert 88 16 Dave Bryden (Dave 2) 87.22 17 Paul Moreau 87.08 18 Ron Deroche 85 19 Mike Wang 82.21 20 Butch Smock 82.12 21 After some lunch and lounging ECHORR SS was up on the Snakebite. Better have some motor kids, this track is fast. No more skinny tires, no more unrestricted shoes, this class will wring all the speed you can get out of a T-Jet. Based on the recent results from the ECHORR Challenge, it’s obvious there are some top-notch car builders in New England and they are in the Outlaws. The track was fantastic. Watching the cars blast down the main straight is fantastic. Once again sections decided the finishing order in several cases. Second through ninth were within nine laps of each other. Three laps covered first to third. Doctor Dave Lockwood took the win with Flash a lap behind and Ryan grabbed the last podium spot. Driver Laps Position Dave Lockwood 145 1 Dave Kaiser (Flash) 144 2 Ryan Archambault 142 3 Greg Wisniewski 140.32 4 Pat Dube 140.17 5 Steve Nilsen 139 6 Paul Ryer 138 7 Peter Lentros 136.74 8 Matt Patrick 136.27 9 Phil Hilgert 131.31 10 Paul Moreau 131.07 11 Rudy Urban 130 12 Jim Hoar 128.65 13 Don Hall 128.49 14 Jim Colligan 128 15 Rick Morrissette 126.53 16 Dave Bryden (Dave 2) 126.51 17 Mike Wang 122 18 Ron Deroche 119 19 Butch Smock 110 20 Rick Hubbert 107 21 Magnatractions with Sport Prototype bodies were the last race of the day. Oh sweet magnetic attraction. I love these cars. Hell, who doesn’t love exposed magnets. I could happily run these cars all day on this track. Downforce baby! But I digress. Don and Peter headed for the door. Mom was calling or what they saw in practice scared them away. In any case 19 drivers strapped in for some magnatraction racing. Mayhem was predicted, but for the most part the racing was clean and close. Once again things were tight at the top. Greg showed that his smoke show at Rapid Raceway was a fluke and took the win. Sir Scribe was a half a lap back for second and Rick H made a podium appearance finishing third. Driver Laps Position Greg Wisniewski 161 1 Paul Ryer 160 2 Rick Hubbert 158 3 Dave Lockwood 153 4 Steve Nilsen 149.76 5 Dave Kaiser (Flash) 149.53 6 Ryan Archambault 147 7 Rudy Urban 142 8 Rick Morrissette 141 9 Phil Hilgert 138 10 Jim Colligan 137 11 Paul Moreau 131 12 Jim Hoar 126 13 Matt Patrick 123 14 Mike Wang 122 15 Ron Deroche 119.65 16 Dave Bryden (Dave 2) 119.61 17 Butch Smock 116 18 Pat Dube 105 19 21 drivers at a races shows we’re doing something right. We are in the groove. Let’s keep it going. Thanks to everyone that showed up, and thank you Ryan and family for letting this rabble into you home. See you at the next thing.
