December 24, 2022 | Jim Colligan Dec 17, 2022 Len Jet All Star Race On Saturday December 17th, 17 Outlaws arrived at Len Jet Raceway to race Hobby Stock, Grand National and E-fray. Josh Goudreault found us on FaceBook and decided to check out the racing. He did very well for someone who has not raced T-Jets in the past and we hope to see him at future events. After practice, cars were teched and Dave Lockwood conducted the driver’s meeting. After the meeting racers voted for the best appearing car and Paul Crosby’s black and gold #13 Torino (painted by Donnie Hall) was awarded best appearing. Before we started racing we had our annual body swap. Racers turned in a body that would fit one of the classes we run. The bodies were numbered and then they got to pick a number out of the hat that matched one of the bodies. Hobby Stock on the Shamrock Glen To no ones surprise, Flash took the win and the top step on the podium with Dave taking second (again to no ones surprise) but the shocker was Paul Crosby taking third….until post race scrutineering in Park Ferme. Alas Paul had inadvertently put non stock axles in his chassis and was DQ’d. The race director of the next race will decide whether additional penalties will be forthcoming. Just kidding Paul!!!! Great drive. At any rate the DQ moved Peter up to the third step on the podium. Big Greg, Tom Gray, Paul Ryer, Donnie and Joe Rinn rounded out the top half of the field. Grand National on the Champion Most of the Outlaws have more laps on the Champion than any of Len Jets other tracks so it’s no surprise that the competition is tight and fierce. Flash (87.17 laps) again took the win and the top step on the podium with Joe Rinn (86.47 laps) and Paul Ryer (86.09 laps) taking second and third. Dave, Big Greg, Matt, Paul Crosby and Donnie rounded out the top half of the field. Only 5 laps separated 1st through 8th and 6 laps from 9th through 15th. E-Fray on the Bear Dave took the overall win with (109.22 Laps) with Flash (105.12) second and Donnie 3rd (104.21) less than a lap behind. Paul Ryer, Big Greg, Tom Gray, Paul Crosby, and Jimmy rounded out the top half of the field. Only 5 racers topped the 100 lap mark so the rest of us have got a ways to go although Tom was closest with 99 laps. It was a fun day of racing and thank you Peter for your hospitality as always. Our next race will be January 21st, the New Year Challenge at Len Jet. Races will be Hobby Stock on the Champion, E-Fray with Nascar bodies on the Nuvolari and IROC on the tub.
