Now that we’ve seen what happens at the beginning of a new NASCAR season, we can honestly say the professional HO slotcar racers who attended the LenJet All Star event on Feb 19th faired better than those NASCAR types.  Plus I think we actually raced smarter than most those those guys/gals too.

When you have a great venue and a superb host like Peter Lentros, it’s a sure thing good things are gonna happen.  Guess it was worth the trip from Maine for  Mario Bosse to race and show off his newly acquired #99 purple Mopar ‘Bird he was gifted by Pat D.cuz it won the Best Appearing Award by only two votes.  Speaking of TWO’s, that’s the number of cars from the Top 5 finishers that passed about everthing on the track, except Post-Race Tech Inspection.  Taking the Feature Winner plaque in the Hobby Stock Class was Dave,The Flash with a run of 67 laps. Second place was Big Ole Greg W’ski with a 66 lap total and Third place (somehow,by way of others DQ’s)was Jim H in a nifty Greg W.prepared original Aurora GTO ‘vert with 65 laps.  Remaining Top 10 were: Dave L, Paul R., Steve N., Peter L., Rick M and Ron D.(tied).

Kindof hard to get a Indy Class race going with 10 Large pizza’s in the next room distracting even the toughest Vegan but as soon as the Pepperoni grease was washed down, the opened wheel monsters did their thing on Peter’s Tub Track/Bowman supplied beautiful layout.  Feel’n lucky was Flash’s theme of the day cuz even with a few “rub’n is race’n” incidents, he got another Feature Winner Plaque by running a tad more track sections than 2nd place guy Dave L. Both had 135 laps for some hard luck racing. Third place was Greg B that  looked unstoppable but was the victim of a couple of “racing incidents” also. 4th place was Ryan A, 5th place was Greg W’ski. Sixth thru 10th was Rudy U., Don H., Steve N., Peter L., and Paul R.  Showing he hasn’t lost his knack for being a competitive racer following a few years off, Mark “K-Man” Kaminsky beefed his way up to 11th place, just a few sections ahead of Big Guys Rule, Jim H with a mid-pack finish.

Taking away the broom from Flash so he couldn’t do a complete sweep of all of the days Feature Winner plaques, this time in the ECHORR SS Class, was the Wonder Guy, Greg B,taking his well built and nice looking car to the Winners Circle by putting down 108 laps. He tried hard, but Dave L.did 100 laps total and got 2nd place. Third place was Ryan A. with a great run of 99 laps. 4th-10th are: Flash w/98 laps, Peter L w/96 laps, Don H and Paul R both had 95 laps with Don getting a few more inches out of his car, 8th was Greg W. w/94 laps, Mark K.with another good race with 92 laps and 10th was Rick “SlotFest King” M. with 91 laps.
