The Second Summer Series Race at Len Jet Race Report

On Saturday, July 27th 21 racers returned to Lenjet Raceway in Ashland, MA for the second of three Summer Series Races Len Jet.  Three races were scheduled…Nostalgia, e Fray and an IROC race.  The Nostalgia race was to be run on the Shamrock Glen and a first time class E Fray on the Bear. the drivers meeting was conducted by Dave Lockwood.  Since Greg W wasn’t able to  We ran the E Fray race to get some experience with the cars prior to the Halloween Havoc race in early November.   We moved practice for the first 2 races along because we wanted to have our rules meeting for the coming season after the IROC race.

Dave Lockwood ran a quick driver’s meeting, reminding everyone to register for the Halloween Havoc and mentioning all the sponsors that had signed on followed by   Greg W’s Treasurer’s report and we were racing.

Because there were 21 racers, the racers were divided into 2 groups for the first two races with half racing Nostalgia on the Shamrock Glen and half racing E Fray on the Bear

Nostalgia on the Shamrock Glen

Dave Lockwood took the win by 10 sections over Flash with Rob Hayes taking a strong third over Peter by 3 laps. Some of the newer racers had never seen Rob in action before and had to be told he was a long time racer with game as tuner and racer.  Nice job Rob.  Peter , Steve, Donnie, Paul Ryer, Greg B, Dave P ( 1/24th racer) and Jim Hoar rounded out the top half of the field.  Racing was tight for positions 11-17 with only 4 laps separating the 7 positions.

E Fray

The class follows SS rules with 3 specifications changed.  Non articulated weighted front ends , 9T Pinion gears and slip on tires are spec’d.

Greg B took the win by three laps over Dave Lockwood with Flash 2 laps behind Dave taking third.  Donnie, Rob, Peter, Paul Ryer, Greg W, Steve, Terry and Tom rounded out the top half of the field.  (positions 11-17 were separated by a total of 2 laps!)

IROC (on the Champion)

Greg B prepped a set of Dash chassis cars which ran great …. especially the white one!!!!  The race turned into one of the tightest races we can remember with Donnie being the only racer to turn 103.12 laps.  Six racers turned in 102 laps with the lowest being 12 sections so there were 7 racers within 1 lap.  The next 3 racers had 101 laps.

Peter, Paul R ( both with 102.22), Jim H, Greg B and Dave L (both had 102.12),  Greg W, Rob, Tom and Jimmy rounded out the top half of the field.  Racers 12 through 19 were separated by a total of 3 laps as well.

The IROC race is fast becoming a favorite of the Outlaws!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great day of racing on terrific tracks and thanks to Peter Lentros for being a great host as always and providing a great venue for us to race on.
