On Saturday November 16th, 17 racers ventured to Suffield CT to Dan DeCosmo’s Taj MaHO race track. Most of the Outlaws hadn’t seen Dan’s slot room before and were very impressed by both Dan’s facility and hospitality. Little Greg asked Dan to host his race as Greg’s wife is expecting any day now and could use the peace and quiet.

Big Greg ran the drivers meeting and gave the financial report ( we’re in the money). Greg also recognized Little Greg and Dan for being on the 6 driver Team USA Gurney that won the 24 hour LeMans race in the UK the previous weekend. Ryan Archambault, John Peleggi, Rob Hayes and Erik Eckhardt (all who have raced with the Outlaws) were the other team members.

The Scorpion:

Dan’s Scorpion Track is a routed sectional track built by MaxTrax. The layout follows the design of the Scorpion built originally by Buck Track with minor variances. There are a number of Scorpions in the US mainly raced on by inline racers. The track features a long straight and the red lane is the toughest because it contains the 2 sharpest 6 inch hairpins.

Race one…..Grand National:

The Grand National class is basically a Nostalgia class car that has wider Nostalgia rear wheels and tires on both the front and rear. This a class really enjoyed by the traditionalists as the bodies have to specifically replicate a 1955-75 NASCAR Grand National car/drivers’ car as it was raced. Dodge Daytonas/Plymouth Superbirds were all the rage. Flash Took the win by two laps over Big Greg W with Steve take the final step on the podium 2 laps behind Greg. Dan, Ricky, Hal, Jimmy C, Joe and Terry rounded out the top half of the field.

Race Two…..Super Stock:

Little Greg took the win( surprise) but only by a lap over Flash with Dan taking the final step on the podium four laps behind Flash. Richie, Steve, Big Greg, Tom, Ricky, and John rounded out the top half of the field.

Last Race…IROC:

Big Greg prepped 4 terrific looking truck tractors on Dash Chassis that really flew and handled well. Covering 88 laps Flash took another win with Little Greg a lap behind and Richie taking the final step on the podium by 5 sections over Big Greg. Terry, Dan, Ricky and Tom ( tied for 7th) and Steve rounded out the top half of the field. Racing was close as the top half of the field were covered by four laps.

Data Point:

13 of the 17 racers finished in the top half of the field in at least one race.

Finally thanks to Dan for hosting and Little Greg for running the races and Big Greg for his IROC set . Fun day of racing.

Next race is December 7th at Lenjet for the Lenjet All Star Race where we’ll run Grand National , Limited Super Stocks with NasTruck bodies and Hobby Stock .
