November 29, 2020 | Paul Ryer Once again, the Outlaws returned to LenJet for another race in this COVID dominated fall. Masks, social distancing and hand sanitizer have become the norm. In any case we had fourteen drivers show up for the November race the weekend before Thanksgiving. Grand National, Super Stock, and IROC were on the menu for the day. After the drivers meeting and tech, Paul Ryer aka Sir Scribe, was awarded best appearing for his purple ’64 Galaxie number 22 and driven by Fireball Roberts. Thus proving even a blind squirrel finds a nut every once in a while. Cody brought his friend Dylan to try out some racing with the Outlaws and I think he had a good time. We hope to see him again in the future.First up was Grand National on the Oval. To keep some distance between the drivers, only the center 4 lanes were run for this race. Racing was fast and close and for the most part clean. The top 10 were only separated by 20 laps which is rather good on the fast and banked oval. Peter Lentros took the top spot with 286 laps followed by Flash in second with 286 laps and Steve with 283 laps. Rounding out the top ten were Paul in fourth, Don in fifth, Joe E. in sixth, Terry in seventh, Tom in eighth, Hal in nineth, and AJ in tenth. After lunch, we moved to the next race with SS/Fray cars on the Shamrock Glen which continues to shine as a great track for all T-Jet classes. Once again the WizzJet chassis showed it muscle taking the top two spots. Don Hall and Peter Lentros tied with the same number of laps and sections for the top spot. Flash was only a lap back in third. Rick Pare took fourth over son Cody who finished in fifth. Rounding out the top ten were Paul in sixth, Seve in seventh, Joe E in eighth, Terry nineth, and Hal tenth. Too lazy to uncover and prep another track we decided to hold the IROC race on the Shamrock Glen. A big thanks to Don Hall for stepping in with cars at the last minute. Thanks Don, you saved the day! Once again there was close racing as drivers adapted to the cars on each lane. Once again Flash took the top spot with 69 laps. Peter Lentros took second beating Paul by sections (this is really starting to get old) who finished third. Don and Steve tied for fourth with the same number of laps and sections. Terry ended up sixth followed by Cody in seventh, and Hal in eighth. Rich Payne joined the fun and tied Rick for nineth. As always a fantastic day of racing with the Outlaws at LenJet. Thanks for hosting Peter! The next race will be at LenJet on December 5th. Classes will be Hobbystock on the Shamrock Glenn, Grand National on the Champion and E-Fray on the Bear. We will also continue the traditional Outlaw body swap. The rules are simple. Bring a race ready body that is legal for any Outlaw class and get one in return. Hope to see you there!
