On Saturday November 20th, 22 Outlaws arrived at Len Jet Raceway to race our third race of the season.  Many were surprised to see that the Tr State club had arrived Friday night for their races on the Purple Mile, Boomerang and Car Model tracks, but we were racing at the largest slot car facility in the world so there was plenty of room.

Practice ended just before 10, cars were teched and Dave Lockwood conducted the drivers meeting.  We made a slight adjustment to the schedule of our races so that we wouldn’t be crowding in a races of both clubs next to each other so we ran the IROC race second instead of last as is the norm.

The best appearing award went to Paul Crosby. Congratulations Paul!

Oval race on the Doval

Racing on the banked Doval is always fast and furious. You have to make laps without getting caught up in the big one. Flash took the win with 431 laps followed by Terry Ayer 428 laps with Ricky Hubert taking third with 423 laps.  With lap times under 2.5 seconds, the gap wasn’t as big as it might seem.  Flash and Terry were the only 2 racers who turned 70 laps or more in all 6 lanes.  Congratulations to Terry for his first podium with the Outlaws!!!!

Paul Ryer, Donnie Hall, Joe Escalante, Steve Neilsen, John Schoenfeld, Greg W and Cody filled out the top half of the field.

IROC on the Car Model Track

John Schoenfeld prepped the new One Stop Slot Shop TFX Tjet Chassis featuring some terrific enhancements to the original Aurora chassis including pop in rear axles and a gear plate that is trimmed down to allow bodies to sit lower without modifying the chassis.  The top plate gears are not compatible with Aurora or Dash gears but yield the same ratio.  You can order the chassis with 15T or 19T crown gears and 16.5 or 20 Ohm armatures.  There are also a lot of little detail improvements incorporated into the design as well.  The cars ran well right from the start and picked up speed as they broke in.

Paul Crosby took the win over Flash by sections, both with 123 laps with Cody taking third by sections over Paul Ryer, both with 121 laps.  Rick Pare, Greg W, Ricky Hubert, Steve Nilsen, John Schoenfeld and Jim Mac rounded out the top half of the field.

Super Stock on the Shamrock Glen

The last race of the day was the first time we raced SS on the Shamrock Glen.  We know the track well but there’s a lot more speed with SS than with Indy, Nostalgia and Hobby Stock which are the classes we usually run.

Donnie Hall took the win over Flash by sections who took second over Peter Lentros by sections all with 98 laps.  Paul Ryer 97 laps, Cody and Bruce with 96 laps were right behind so there was a 2 lap spread covering the first 6 racers.  Rick Pare, Joe Rinn, John Schoenfeld, and Steve Neilsen filled out the top half of the field.

Thank you Peter for your hospitality as always.
