November 9, 2015 | Paul Ryer A tad bit late, even by Old Man Standards, but I had to come to Florida to recover from all the great racing that’s been happening in the East Coast HO Outlaws club since Sept. Damn Sand Crabs tried to eat the sign-up sheet too. Speaking of Old, that was the first race of the day on the SebagOval Speedway, the old Jalopy class. Even local hot shoe driver Matt Patrick’s racecars that looked like something leftover from WWII, couldn’t out do Rick Hubbert as the car/driver combo to beat. Rick took the first win on the old King Of Dirt track by running 284 laps. Second was Matt P.with 271laps. Third place with 265 laps was Greg W’ski who loved his four trip, one-way to Maine, just for the fun of racing here. 4th was Peter L,who was one of the smart guys that came up the afternoon before the race to do some testing, tuning and dinner out with the guys this year. 5th was Mr.”I’ll always go to Maine first”,Bill Craven with a fast ride doing 255 laps to Lentros’s 256 laps. Second Class of the day on the SebagOval were our so very cool looking Grand National cars with their authentic replication of real Winston Cup NASCAR rides from the good.ole’ days. Thinking that if one time is good, two would be better, Rick H.claimed his sweep of top podium finishes on the oval by running 260 laps. Greg W’ski was going for the win and only had two “track off” marks but second was doable by running 259 laps. Third place was Mystery Man Flash, who knew better things were in store for him on the SS event,so he ran a clean race with 258 laps. 4th was CT’s answer to what Joey Lagano will look like someday,Rudy Urban…who is probably a better driver too, ran a total of 255 laps. 5th was the Mike Wang, hot shoe kid of Steve Nilsen, ran 252 laps like Steve. All right, everyone was warmed up and filled up on the burger’s, hot dogs and 3ft.Subway Party sandwich so it was time for the 25 foot long Sebago Road Course to test the ECHORR SS cars, and drivers, to see who would claim the victory. A new tire pile was added this year in Mario Corner to make any car pay the price for too much uummphh in the short chute. Getting his big win on the big track was “Flash”,with a impressive 126 laps compared to his buddy Greg W’ski’s 119 laps for the second spot. Greg had 3 Top 3.finishes for the weekend. Peter L.didn’t want to go back to Lentros Engineering empty handed,so.he gets a Third Place plaque for running 118 laps. 4th was Steve N with 117 laps, his second Top 6 finish in a row. 5th place was Rick H,making a Top 5 sweep for the weekend,by turning in 115 laps. Award plaques should be available for pickup at the upcoming race for the Outlaws over on the easy to get to FB Raceway in CT.this coming Sunday. Thanks so much to everyone who still had the urge to race somewhere, even after a event filled month plus prior to the Grill’n-n-Chill’n. Summer Series,ECHORR Challenge and a club event at Lil’Greg’s place just shows, not just us Mainer’s are a hearty bunch of racers.
