If Ron DeRoche turns up at the next race weighing like 400 lbs, it’s only because he had to eat all the leftover luncheon meat /cheese trays cuz enough Outlaws didn’t show up to race last Sunday.  It was a great event for the 9 folks who did drop over to Hope St. and enjoy The DeRoche Family hospitality and Ron’s one-of-a-kind,  hand routed masterpiece.  Was a easy day for sure to see who was going to win the Best Appearing Award with only 27 cars to pick from and the one that stood out the nicest was the Pat Dube Green Indy #19 owned by Greg W’Ski.  The metal flake paint job showed up real well under Ron’s nice LED lighting on the road course.

Once again, we jinxed Mother Nature cuz it was like 60 degrees outdoors and Ron kept the basement a comfy 70 degrees as we positioned the Limited SS chassis’d cars on his track. The vintage Trans-AM style Pony cars looked and handled really well for the most part. A few S-turns earned new names, like Matt’s Corner or Rick’s Turn with some high quantity crashes though.  Even though his green Camaro had it’s share of off-track experiences, Hubbert still had it in the slot more than out and he took the Victory by running 64 laps. Second place with 63 was the “Flashonater” and Third place was Greg W’Ski with 62 laps. 4th–Phil H.also with a shorter length 62 lap race. 5th–Matt w/61 laps. 6th–Steve N w/58 laps. 7th–Jim H. w/57 laps. 8th–Rudy w/56 laps and 9th was Ron with Controller issue taking his laps down to only 53.

The Ready for Action Indy class also had it’s share of cars airborne and finding new places to park on the track other than their own lane. Showing us that his first Victory was no fluke, Rick H won the Indy Class race by running 57 laps followed by perennial 2nd place guy of the day, Flashonator who also had the shorter of the 57 lap totals. 3rd was Greg W’Ski …(do we see a trend here so far folks?)..who ran 56 laps which was a half lap more than Matt’s total of 56 also. 5th–Steve N w/53 laps. 6th–Phil (the married man) with 52 laps. 7th–Rudy w/52 laps. 8th–Jim H. w/50 laps and Ron’s Controller again defecated itself and made him finish 9th with 46 laps.

Final bunch of cars on the track were the ECHORR SS class. Former Perennial Second Place guy, The Flashonator, said he’d had enough of that and took the win on the last segment by staying in his lane a smitch’n more than Matt did as he racked up 70 laps vs Matt’s 69.  Luckily, Matt was half a lap ahead of Third Place finisher Greg W, cuz he also had 69 laps. 4th–Phil H w/66. 5th–Steve N w/66 laps. 6th–Rick H w/63 laps. 7th–Ron w/62 laps and a fixed up solder wired controller. 8th–Jim H. w/61 laps and 9th was Rudy with 59 laps.

Next race is looking like a week delayed Lil Greg B’s event now reportedly to be run on Feb 28th. Hope everyone gets the word. We also discussed with the members present about making setting up the Portable “O” at Stafford Springs Speedways Flea Market/Swap Meet in April and it was approved that we should try it seeing it’s only a $40 set-up fee and we will get alot of car-types there to walk around and hopefully purchase alot of the slotcar stuff all club members can sell at this event. Contact Steve N.for details plus we will discuss more at Lil Greg’s race in a few weeks.
