December 16, 2023  “ The Lenjet All Star Race”

On Saturday December 16,  we had another great turnout as 19 Outlaws arrived at Lenjet Raceway for the Lenjet All Star Race.   After practice, Dave conducted the driver’s meeting and it was decided to conduct the first 2 races simultaneously with half running Hobby Stock on the Max Traxx Python and half running Grand National on the Shamrock Glen.  Before we started racing, we had our annual Christmas body swap and the best appearing award. There were some sweet bodies swapped and then Joe Rinn was awarded best appearing with his #301 1956 Chrysler 300 Grand National.

Hobby Stock on the Python

While we are all familiar with the python (except Chief who didn’t even practice), this is the first time that we raced Hobby Stock on the track.  Dave took 1st over Flash by 2 ½  laps while Peter was ½ lap behind Flash to take final step on the podium.  Racing was fierce mid pack as 6-12 positions scored 69-71 laps.  Big Greg, Paul, Joe Rinn, Cody, Bruce, Jim K and Rick rounded out the top half of the field.

Grand National on the Shamrock Glen

Racing was tight at the sharp end of the field as Paul, Flash and Dave all totaled 73 laps and Paul came out the winner by 11 sections over Flash with Dave 20 sections behind Flash. Racing again was fierce mid pack as 8 racers scored between 66 and 68 laps with 4 scoring 68 laps!  Peter, Rick, Matt, Cody, Donnie, Greg and Jimmy rounded out the top half of the field.

Efray on the Tub

One of the biggest challenges with fast cars on the tub is staying out of trouble.  Cars cover ground fast and an off in front of you doesn’t leave you much time to slow as to not get involved.

Joe Rinn beat his mentor Dave by almost 4 laps!  Dave was quick to add that Joe built the car (under Dave’s watchful eye).  Flash took 3rd 2 laps back.  Peter and big Greg took 4th and 5th with 4 racers with 162 laps Paul, Cody with Jimmy and Donnie in a dead tie.  Rick rounded out the top half of the field.

Thank you Peter as always for a great day of racing

Next Race is at Lenjet on Jan 20th with Hobby Stock on the Tub, Efray with Nascar bodies on the Champion and Jalopies on the Tri-oval
