February 24, 2024   “Once Bitten”

On Saturday February 24, a dozen Outlaws arrived at Ryan’s Fast Five Raceway for the         “Once Bitten”.  With Dave out in California for the Fray and Paul under the weather, Big Greg stepped up to be race director for the day.  After practice, Greg conducted the driver’s meeting and then we voted for best appearing car. Flash’s Indy car was voted best appearing.  Then we got on with the races.

Indy on the Snakebite

With long straights, handling down the straightaways was at a premium!  But the tricky complex of reverse curve hairpins towards the end of the lap needed a car that could handle in the curves as well.  Ryan smoked the field with 126 laps with lap totals in the 20s on all six lanes.   Big Greg 4 laps behind and Flash a further 2 laps behind with 120 laps.  The biggest difference was Flash was 2 laps behind Ryan and Greg in both the middles lanes.  Terry, Jimmy and Jim K rounded out the top half of the field.

Superstock on the Harley

The Harley is a neat handling track with one longish straightaway and a devilish reverse curve at the end of it and another reverse curve leading on to it.  Perfect for any tjet class.

Flash ran away and hid with 144 laps to take the win over Joe Rinn by 3 laps with Ryan a further lap behind.   Big Greg (8 sections behind Ryan), Jimmy and Jim K rounded out the top half of the field.

Magnatraction with Sports Prototype bodies on the Snakebite

Joe Rinn was the class of the field with 161 laps to take the win by 3 laps over Flash with Terry a further lap behind to take the final step on the podium.  Ryan (9 sections behind Terry), Jim K and Steve rounded out the top half of the field

Thank you Ryan for a great day of racing and Big Greg taking over duties as the race director. Dave would have been proud of us as there were 3 different winners on the day.

Next Race is at Terry’s on March 16 with Jalopies on the oval, SS on the road course and IROC on the road course.
